I Have Breast Implants: Now What?
After a breast augmentation you can, once you have fully recovered, simply use your breasts the way you are used to. Breast implants last a long time, but no implant has a guaranteed lifetime lifespan.
That is why Laura finds it important that your breast implants keep receiving attention in the longer term.
When should you have your implants checked?
If you have symptoms such as pain, swelling or a change in the shape of your breast, always get in touch. If you are worried, you can come to us for a check-up as well.
If you have no symptoms, routine checks with an MRI are not necessary according to the Dutch guideline. Even so, Laura notices that many women like to know after a while whether their implants are still intact.
MRI follow-up program
That is why she developed an MRI follow-up program within Velthuis kliniek. It lets women who have had a breast augmentation with us have their implants checked with an MRI every five years.
If a rupture of an implant is found, Laura discusses with you what is needed and whether the implant has to be replaced.
That way her care does not stop after your operation, and you can come to us with questions about your breasts and breast implants years later too.
