Breast Implant Replacement

Breast implants can be replaced for a number of reasons. Capsular contracture, for example, a rupture of the implant, or simply because your breasts have changed over the years. Your own wishes can change too: perhaps you would like a different volume, a different shape or a more natural result.

More than just swapping implants

For Laura, replacing breast implants is always a moment to look at the whole again.

How has the shape of your breasts changed? Are the implants still in the right position? Is there enough coverage? Does the volume still suit your body and what you find beautiful now?

Together with Laura you discuss your current wishes and how the most natural and stable result possible can be achieved. Sometimes that means replacing the implants only, but sometimes a correction of the shape, of the implant position or a breast lift is needed as well.

Especially in women who have had implants for a long time or who have been operated on several times before, a replacement calls for experience and an individual approach.

Do implants always have to be replaced?

Not every breast implant has to be replaced as a matter of course after ten years. That depends among other things on the type of implant, its condition and whether you have any symptoms.

If you are happy with your implants and they are intact at a check-up, then depending on the type of implant there may be no reason to replace them preventively.

Laura does advise her clients with breast implants to have them checked in the longer term. For that she developed the MRI follow-up program.
